The Four Best Handheld Portable Vacuums Available - Reviews by TheWaffle

May 25th, 2009

TheWaffle loves to cook, and cooking (sometimes) leads to messes in the kitchen. For any decent cook trying to maintain a decorously clean kitchen, a top-quality cordless handheld vacuum is a must. Some messes just cannot be swept up by a broom, and there are very few dry spills in the kitchen that require you to lug out a full-size vac.

Because of TheWaffle’s prowess for cooking (and making messes) TheWaffle knows handheld vacuums. (Some folks call them portable vacuums, but aren’t nearly all vacuums “portable?”) In today’s post, TheWaffle rates the 4 best handheld vacuums in the world; from the very stylish Dirt Devil Kurv; to the very powerful Eureka 71B.

The Dirt Devil Kurv is very quiet and great for use with pets. It is definitely the most stylish of the 4 top vacuums we chose. If you like your vacuums to be close at hand (and not in a closet), then you need this handheld vacuum.

Our next favorite is the Dirt Devil Kone. The DD Kone is almost as stylish as the Kurv and almost as powerful. The Dirt Devil Kone is one step below the Kurv, and goes for about ten dollars less. It is somewhat louder than the Kurv, but cleans up about as quick.

The Black & Decker CHV4800 Dustbuster is our third favorite vacuum on the agenda. While Black & Decker really invented this category of vacuums, their innovation stopped as soon as it started. The Dustbuster hasn’t improved much since its creation, though it’s still a great little vacuum. This one is great for small spills in your car and those crumbs inside your couch. And it is by far the cheapest vacuum of them all. It is a little loud but all-in-all it is still a great handheld vacuum.

Finally we get to the most powerful of them all, the Eureka 71B. It is great for cleaning up spots of animal hair, but not so great for car seats. If the seats are curved, then its big head will not fit deep enough to get it all. But inside the house, especially in the kitchen, it is great and much simpler to use than your large, everyday corded vacuum.
